Rescue Mission opens thrift store in Marshall Square Mall

SYRACUSE — The Rescue Mission has opened 3fifteen, a thrift store targeted at college students, in the Marshall Square Mall.

The thrift store shares space with Café Kubal, a local coffee roaster with two other area locations. Café Kubal operates in about 1,000 square feet of the 6,000-square-foot space of 3fifteen and has a coffee roaster operating on site.

The Rescue Mission says the 3fifteen store will feature high-quality, gently-used designer and vintage fashion and accessories for men and women, as well as furniture appropriate for dorm rooms and apartments, a selection of housewares and shoes. In addition, 3fifteen will accept clothing, household, and furniture donations at the store and will have volunteer opportunities for students and the community, both within the store and on the Rescue Mission’s Gifford Street campus.

The Students in Free Enterprise organization (SIFE) at Syracuse University assisted the Rescue Mission with the planning of 3fifteen.

The Rescue Mission currently operates 12 Thrifty Shopper stores throughout six counties. 3fifteen, however, will cater primarily to the millennial generation shopper, the nonprofit says.

The store will also offer Wifi access. The store design will also incorporate the story of the Rescue Mission and how sales from 3fifteen help homeless, hungry, and hurting people in the community.
