CONKLIN — SunMaxx Solar, a Conklin–based manufacturer of solar-thermal systems, opened a new solar training facility in Conklin last month.
The 2,000-square-foot indoor training lab includes a presentation area and a large open space for hands-on training. SunMaxx educator John Maliwacki trains students through the science, installation, and marketing of domestic and commercial solar hot-water systems.
Dedicating the time to train people how to install solar hot-water systems will help accelerate the market’s acceptance and adoption of solar technologies, SunMaxx CEO Adam Farrell said in a news release. “By ensuring high-quality installations are standard, SunMaxx helps to create sustainable jobs within the solar installation industry,” he said.

The new training facility provides accelerated training classes for contractors, electricians, engineers, solar-energy entrepreneurs, sales executives, and anyone considering a career in the solar industry. The programs are structured to help individuals and licensed contractors get into the solar industry through hands-on training in solar hot water and photovoltaic system design and installation.
Farrell was traveling out of the country at press time and was not available for an interview.
