An interim executive director will take over at the Allyn Foundation in July when Margaret M. “Meg” O’Connell steps away from the position to become interim president of Onondaga Community College (OCC).
Margaret “Peggy” Gillette Ogden will start as the foundation’s interim executive director on July 1, the foundation said in a news release. The Allyn Foundation, a private, family foundation with a board of directors made up primarily of descendants of Welch Allyn, Inc. founder William Noah Allyn and their spouses, has assets of $28 million and makes grants to charitable organizations.
Ogden served as president and CEO of the Central New York Community Foundation from 1988 to 2008. She retired from that role in 2008 and has been the principal consultant of Peggy Ogden, LLC, a consulting firm for foundations, donors, and not-for-profit organizations. She is also a director of Alliance Financial Corp.

At the Allyn Foundation, she will fill the shoes of O’Connell, who is taking a leave of absence from the executive director spot to become OCC’s interim president on July 1.
O’Connell will fill in as the college’s president while it searches for a permanent successor to current President Debbie Sydow. Sydow is leaving OCC to become president of Richard Bland College in Petersburg, Va.
Today, the State University of New York Board of Trustees approved O’Connell’s appointment as OCC interim president. She is slated to hold the role for 12 months or until a permanent president takes over.
