New York dairy farmers receive lower prices for milk in January

Dairy farmers in the Empire State received an average of $20.30 per hundredweight of milk sold during January, down 40 cents from December, but still $2.50 higher than the year-ago period. That’s according to a report today from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, New York Field Office.

The price of soybeans and apples also decreased in January, compared to December, while the price of corn and hay increased, the field office reported. Potato prices remained unchanged.
