Citizens Bank says customers were unable to access accounts Friday morning

Customers of Citizens Bank were unable to access their bank accounts Friday morning, the Providence, R.I.–based bank said on social media.

Around 8 a.m., Citizens, which has 18 branches in Central New York, posted on Twitter that customers were unable able to access accounts and the posting of transactions was impacted “due to a processing delay.” The bank went on to say, “Our technical teams are fully engaged on the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Around 11:30 a.m., the bank tweeted again: “The processing delay this morning has been resolved and all transactions have been posted. We are currently working through access issues impacting mobile and online banking.”
