Blaze Pizza coming to Vestal

VESTAL, N.Y. — An artisanal pizza place will open in Vestal on Thursday.

Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza, will open for business at 3714 Vestal Parkway with an open-kitchen, 2,600-square-foot space with seating for 78.

Blaze Pizza began in Southern California in 2012 and now has more than 260 restaurants in 40 states, Canada, and Kuwait, the company said in a release. This will be its 10th location in New York.

Founded by Elise and Rick Wetzel, of Wetzel’s Pretzels fame, Blaze Pizza is backed by private-equity firm Brentwood Associates. That firm includes famous investors such as LeBron James, Maria Shriver, and Boston Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner, according to the release.

“Our mission at Blaze is really simple — we’re taking pizza back to its roots,” said Jim Mizes, president and CEO of Blaze Pizza. “By making dough in-house, using carefully sourced ingredients, and cooking by fire, we’re giving guests a great way to enjoy artisanal pizza without the wait.  It’s changing the way people think about and eat pizza.”
