SYRACUSE, N.Y. — New Syracuse Orange head football coach Dino Babers on Monday afternoon named Asil Mulbah to his support staff as director of recruiting operations.
Mulbah comes to Syracuse after spending the previous two seasons as Wake Forest’s director of high school relations.
“Asil has done an outstanding job of establishing contacts with high school coaches from across the country,” Babers said a news release. “He got his feet wet in this conference at Wake Forest. Now he’s coming to Syracuse to be the leader of our #OrangeIsTheNewFast recruiting program.”
Prior to working with head coach Dave Clawson at Wake Forest, Mulbah was a member of Clawson’s staff at Bowling Green for three years. He was an academic coordinator/offensive quality control coach for the Falcons from 2010-11 and served as the program’s assistant director of football operations in 2013.
In between, Mulbah spent the 2012 season as a player-personnel scouting assistant for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the NFL.
Mulbah graduated from Fordham University in 2010 with a degree in business administration. He played linebacker for the university’s football team before his career was cut short by injury.
Eric White was the previous recruiting director at Syracuse under the prior head coach Scott Shafer. White is heading to the University of Maryland to work in player personnel, according to FootballScoop.com, a football coaching news website. Shafer also went to Maryland to become the Terps defensive coordinator.
