Freund joins MACNY as chief leadership officer

DeWITT, N.Y. — David Freund has joined the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) as its new chief leadership officer, the organization announced.

Freund will oversee and facilitate all training and leadership development programs on behalf of MACNY and its more than 300 members across New York, MACNY said in a news release.

Freund has been a MACNY board member and for the last 20 years, he has served as a trainer, working with member companies in various capacities of leadership development.

Freund brings more than 35 years of experience in both manufacturing and training and leadership development.

He most recently was president of Selflock Screw Products Co., Inc., a manufacturing company located at 461 E. Brighton Ave. in Syracuse.

Prior to Freund’s work at Selflock Screw Products, he held managerial positions at both Jaquith Industries of Syracuse and Volpi Manufacturing USA in Auburn, according to the MACNY release.

Freund is trained as a certified tool and die maker, MACNY said.

MACNY is “thrilled and fortunate” to have Freund on staff, Randall Wolken, president of the association, said.

“David’s wealth of knowledge and experience not only in a manufacturing capacity but here at MACNY as a longtime board member comes as incredible asset to MACNY membership and our future program offerings in leadership and training. We … look forward to rolling out new programs and offerings to the MACNY membership under his leadership,” said Wolken.

Freund is also a certified executive coach with the John Maxwell Team, a national leadership organization.

He will offer this service to MACNY members as part of membership leadership and development trainings, according to the news release.
