Ferraris will be heard again at Watkins Glen after a four-year absence

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. — Watkins Glen International is bringing back the Ferrari Challenge North America series, which was last raced at the Finger Lakes racetrack and tourist attraction in 2014.

The race weekend is scheduled for July 27-29. It will bring spec versions of the Ferrari 488 Challenge and 458 Challenge EVO.

“When you mention Ferraris racing at Watkins Glen, it turns heads,” Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup said in a news release.

The Ferrari Challenge has been around since 1993 and is FIA-approved. “The formula for the series, which insists on participants being dealers or authorized race shops, ensures that cars are very closely matched, thus putting the focus on the drivers,” Watkins Glen International said.

The Ferrari Challenge is make up three series: Europe, which is the oldest; North America; and Asia-Pacific.
