People news: Carthage Behavioral Health hires Beagle as general therapist

CARTHAGE, N.Y. — Carthage Area Hospital announced that Melissa Beagle has joined its Carthage Behavioral Health staff as a general therapist. She began seeing patients last month and is focused on a range of therapy needs for adults and children.

A western Pennsylvania native, Beagle first came to the North Country as part of an Army family in 2000 and decided to make a make a permanent home in the area, according to a hospital news release.

Before she joined Carthage Behavioral Health, Beagle worked as a senior operations manager for Transitional Living Services in Watertown, from 2016 until last month. From 2003 to 2016, she worked at the Children’s Home of Jefferson County in Watertown, where she was a case manager from 2003 to 2008 and the Jefferson County SPOA/SPOE Coordinator from 2008 to 2016.

Beagle is a 1992 graduate of Grove City College in Pennsylvania, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. In 2017, she completed the Greater Rochester Collaborative Master of Social Work (MSW) program, which is a program in collaboration between the College at Brockport and Nazareth College. Her master’s thesis is focused on eating disorders. She earned her MSW license in June 2017.

Beagle said a sincere desire to help people drew her to practice in the mental health field.

“I like helping people,” she said in the release. “After so many years in administration, I get to use my education and experience to practice therapy and help guide clients on a positive journey.”
