Binghamton University seeks applications for next round of Ross fund grants

VESTAL, N.Y. — Binghamton University says applications are now available for the 2018 grant cycle of the Stephen David Ross University and Community Projects Fund.

Ross, a Binghamton University faculty member, established the fund to further advance working partnerships between the school and the community, Binghamton said in a news release.

Binghamton awards Ross fund grants based on several criteria. They include “promotion of collaboration and cooperation” between university and community groups; “innovative” use of the talents and resources of project partners; “demonstrated” commitment to the use of existing funds or to obtaining matching funds; and “significant, enduring and positive” difference in the quality of life of the community.

The Ross fund in 2017 awarded funding to projects that included See Me, Hear Me, Treat Me, a project of the Binghamton–based nonprofit Truth Pharm, Inc., according to the website of the Binghamton University Foundation.

It seeks to “produce an educational program for clinical personnel commonly involved in the treatment of people affected by addiction,” according to the Binghamton news release.

In 2018, the fund will award about $14,500 in grants to nonprofit organizations in partnership with Binghamton University. Individual grants range from $1,000 to $14,500, the school said.

The application deadline is April 9. Grant funds are available beginning July 1.

Grant applications, full guidelines, and further information are available at the Binghamton University website.
