Oswego Industries to hire 18 employees, hold job fair Thursday

FULTON, N.Y. — Oswego Industries Inc. is expanding its document imaging and digitizing program with plans to hire 18 additional employees this year.

The Fulton nonprofit currently employs more than 180 people. Founded in 1968, Oswego Industries says it works to “support and improve quality of life” for adults with disabilities.

Document imaging, scanning, and shredding has been part of Oswego Industries’ operations for more than three years, the nonprofit said in a news release.

The document imaging and digitalizing program currently processes about 100,000 images per month, but has plans to increase output to over 250,000 per month.

One of the organization’s customers recently agreed to supply an additional 4.5 million images to be digitized over the next three years, Oswego Industries said. It didn’t name the customer.

The decision “nearly triples” the workload of the digitizing department, prompting Oswego Industries to pursue new employees.

“Our community is experiencing slowed economic development and we hope that these new positions will stimulate growth,” Laurie Davis, executive director of Oswego Industries, said in the nonprofit’s release. “We are excited to provide so many jobs for applicants from a wide range of employment experiences including recent graduates, people returning to the workforce and skilled professionals.”

Oswego Industries is a sister agency of the Arc of Oswego County, which provides services for children and seniors with disabilities.

Job fair this week

Oswego Industries is hosting a “hiring event” on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at its main offices, located at 7 Morrill Place in Fulton.

The agency encourages candidates “of all abilities and backgrounds to apply.”  The open positions include part- and full-time jobs in both day and evening shifts, Oswego Industries said.

Oswego Industries will conduct interviews for all vacancies including jobs related to production, maintenance, human services and supervisory positions. Candidates “are encouraged” to bring their résumés.

Appointments are not necessary during the hiring event and walk-ins will be accepted. Those interested can call (315) 598-3108, extension 312 or email emorris@oswegoind.org for more information.

Job postings are also available on the Oswego Industries website  (www.oswegoindustriesinc.org).
