People news: NYBDC hires Alexander for Syracuse office

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The New York Business Development Corporation (NYBDC), a provider of alternative small-business capital, announced it has hired Benjamin Alexander for its Syracuse office.

As a commercial loan officer at NYBDC and its affiliates — The 504 Company and Excelsior Growth Fund — he will support small-business owners throughout Central New York and the North Country.

Alexander joins NYBDC after six years of experience in banking, most recently as a small-business loan underwriter at NBT Bank.

“I’m very excited to be joining a mission-based lending group and look forward to helping entrepreneurs across New York State. I truly believe one of the best ways to facilitate positive change in a community is through the growth of small businesses and job creation. I’m looking forward to playing a small role in NYBDC’s mission to help New York entrepreneurs achieve their version of the American dream,” Alexander said in a news release.

NYBDC says it offers small-business loans to startups, mature businesses, and minority- and women-owned businesses, offering access to loans when borrowers do not meet the requirements for traditional financing. The financing options include SBA 504, 7(a), and Community Advantage loans, as well as online alternative loans.
