ROME, N.Y. — Rome Medical Practice announced that urologist Brent E. Carlyle, M.D., of AMP Urology, has joined the practice to offer urological services in Rome.
The Rome Medical Practice office is located in the Griffiss Business and Technology Park at 267 Hill Road, Suite 300.
“Dr. Carlyle is a great addition to the urology team, joining Dr. Wael Muakkassa and Dr. Bashar Omarbasha in providing treatment of diseases of the urinary tract in men and women,” Giselle Wisdom, Rome Medical Practice administrator said in a news release. “With three providers, patients in Rome will have even more options for appointment times for their convenience.”
Dr. Carlyle completed his urology residency at Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He earned his medical degree at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and his undergraduate degree with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is a member of the American Urological Association.
Carlyle’s training includes surgical and medical management of erectile dysfunction, urinary incontinence, benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate/BPH), complex kidney stone disease, kidney cancer, prostate cancer, and bladder cancer. He is trained in robotic, laparoscopic, endoscopic, and traditional open surgical techniques, the release stated.
Before his medical career, Carlyle was an Army captain and intelligence officer and was an Army ranger. He was deployed in Afghanistan and in Iraq between 2004 and 2007 and is the recipient of two bronze stars, an army commendation medal, three army achievement medals, a global war on terrorism service medal, and Parachutist Badge among others.
Dr. Carlyle and the other specialists on the urology team are members of Rome Memorial Hospital’s medical staff, performing surgical procedures at the hospital and providing 24-hour coverage in the Emergency Department, per the release.
