With this degree program, Cayuga seeks to “enhance the current portfolio of degree programs that can be completed entirely online,” it said in a news release issued Friday.
The program prepares students for entry-level careers in convention centers; destination marketing organizations (DMO)/tourism promotion agencies (TPA); visitor centers; cruise lines; inns; nonprofit organizations; and hotels.
With this degree, a student could pursue a career as an event coordinator; a conference planner; destination-marketing specialist; tour operator; travel promoter; travel guide; and visitor-center coordinator, Cayuga said.

The program includes a business internship to provide “hands-on” learning for students. The school has arranged internship opportunities for local students at the Cayuga County Office of Tourism; Auburn Holiday Inn; Auburn Hilton Garden Inn; Musical Theatre Festival; The Lodge at Welch Allyn; and the Auburn Downtown Business Improvement District.
