UTICA, N.Y. — Price Rite opened its 32,000-square-foot location in Utica on Sunday.

The store, which has about 85 employees, is located at 501 Bleeker St. in Utica.

“We are pleased to announce the opening of our new Utica store, and we are privileged to be part of this community,” Neil Duffy, president of Price Rite, said in a news release.

“Our administration has worked diligently with Price Rite representatives, and we are thrilled they are opening a new grocery store in downtown,” Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri said in the Price Rite release. “When speaking with current and prospective downtown and Baggs Square residents, there is a universal desire to have everyday amenities readily accessible, and Price Rite’s presence is a major step forward in our mission to make downtown a fully-fledged neighborhood.”

The Utica location adds to Price Rite’s presence in Central New York.

It operates two stores in Syracuse, including the location at 611 South Ave., which opened April 2. The company also operates a store at 1625 Erie Blvd. East.

Price Rite also has a store at 3124 Vestal Parkway East in Vestal, according to its website.

Keasbey, New Jersey–based Wakefern Food Corp. is the parent company of Price Rite.
