Lyft to begin operations at Hancock International Airport Thursday

lyft logoSYRACUSE, N.Y. — The ride-hailing service Lyft is set to begin picking up and dropping off passengers at Syracuse Hancock International Airport on Thursday.

The airport has signed an agreement allowing San Francisco, California–based Lyft, Inc. to operate on its property, according to a news release issued Tuesday.

Lyft will pay the Syracuse Airport $2 for every pickup/drop off at the facility, Christina Callahan, executive director of the airport, said in a Wednesday afternoon response to a BJNN email inquiry.

The application-based service is the “fastest growing” ride-hailing company in the U.S. and is available in more than 350 communities and 220 airports.

Syracuse Hancock International Airport will have a designated Lyft pick-up area for passengers who would like to use the service, located on the north end of the terminal, the airport said. Lyft will pay a one-time fee of $2,500 for signage designating that area, according to Callahan.
