SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Three teams will compete in third round of the Germinator, which CenterState CEO describes as “the region’s most comprehensive business competition.”

The startups moving forward in the contest are Euphony Inc.; Life Source Health, Inc; and VossVertical, according to a CenterState CEO news release.

Euphony specializes in natural-sounding text-to-speech synthesis software. It’s working to apply its technologies to speech-therapy applications and speech simulation.

Life Source Health is a company that offers “real time, vital” health information to emergency responders in order to better assist them in saving patients.

VossVertical is a company creating new technology that expands the distance and endurance of unmanned aerial systems.

The companies moving on were among five startups that pitched their business ideas and progress to judges in the second of four “Greenhouse Demo Days,” CenterState CEO said.

A “Greenhouse Demo Day” is a public presentation that’s scheduled every six months. Judges and sponsors rate the teams’ progress and potential for success before choosing the teams that will earn additional funding and continue through the next round of the competition.

The advancing Germinator teams were each awarded $50,000 in funding and ongoing mentorship.

The Germinator awards startups funding every six months over the course of two years. Ultimately, one winner will receive a grand prize of $100,000, for a total of $250,000 in investments during the program.

In addition to funding, the program includes training on marketing, intellectual property, sales, financing, and fundraising for the teams involved.

Participants also have access to software developers in the DevBox that can assist in building software, application and other digital products. DevBox is a team of in-house software developers that can assist in building software and application products.

Sarita’s and Volu, Inc., the teams eliminated from the competition in this round, are now eligible to compete for a $50,000 “Best of the Rest” investment during the final “Greenhouse” competition with three other eliminated teams.

A startup called Trainer Engine was eliminated from the “greenhouse” competition held last Oct. 29.

Eliminated teams still have space and access to The Tech Garden services until the end of the competition, according to CenterState CEO.
