CLINTON, N.Y. — The Indium Corporation has signed an agreement with a Chinese firm to supply indium-based products for the electronics and flat-panel display (FPD) production markets.

Indium and Yunnan Tin Group Company Limited are calling it a “strategic technology and materials partnership,” Indium said in a news release. It didn’t release any terms of the pact.

“Indium Corporation is honored to bring our expertise, high-quality products, and advanced-manufacturing technologies to this mutually beneficial collaboration,” Ross Berntson, executive VP, said in the company’s release. “Together, Indium Corporation and Yunnan Tin will enable the growth of indium-based production in China.”

“We are looking forward to working together with the team at Yunnan Tin. This partnership will combine the strengths of both companies to move forward in a very positive way,” William Jackson, director and general manager of compounds, added.

The local production and supply of “technologically advanced and high-quality,” indium-based materials that meet the operational requirements of generation 6.0 and higher FPD coating processes is seen as one of the “benefits of this partnership,” Indium said.

Founded in 1883, Yunnan Tin Company Limited is the “largest tin producer and exporter in China and the world,” Indium said. The firm is headquartered in Kunming, Yunnan.

The company focuses on the exploration, mining, production, and sale of tin and tin chemicals. Its products include refined tin, tin-lead solders, precious metals, and non-ferrous metals, along with platinum catalysts and metal products.

Indium is a materials manufacturer and supplier to the global electronics, flat-panel display, and solar markets. It is headquartered in Clinton in Oneida County.

Products include solders and fluxes; brazes; thermal interface materials; sputtering targets; indium, gallium, germanium, and tin metals and inorganic compounds; and NanoFoil.

Founded in 1934, Indium has global technical support and factories located in China, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and the U.S.
