ROME, N.Y. — Darlene Burns, former president and CEO of Rome Memorial Hospital (RMH), will serve on the hospital’s board of trustees.
The volunteer board oversees the hospital’s “quality of care, policy development and strategic planning,” RMH said in a recently issued news release.
“When we needed a trusted leader to serve as interim CEO last year, Darlene came out of retirement and accepted the call for assistance without hesitation,” Dr. Chester Patrick, chairman of the board of trustees, said in the release. “For seven months, she kept the hospital moving forward as we completed our search for a permanent CEO. Now, her experience and life-long devotion to the hospital will be greatly respected and valued as she steps into her new role as a board member.”
Burns served as the hospital’s interim CEO after the resignation of Basil Ariglio in August 2015. RMH announced the selection of David Lundquist as its new CEO in February of this year. Burns had earlier retired as president and CEO in 2011 after leading the hospital for nearly a decade.
Besides Patrick and Burns, the RMH board of trustees also includes David Nolan, Lynn Reese, W. Robert Herrmann, Dr. Ankur Desai, Julie Grow Denton, Dennis Surace, and Kim Cook, according to the release.
