CAMILLUS, N.Y. — Movie Tavern, a Dallas–based company describing itself as a “cinema eatery,” plans to open its first New York state location in Camillus next Tuesday, June 14.

The $11 million theater project is part of the Township 5 development at 180 Township Boulevard in Camillus.

The more than 48,000-square-foot theatre will feature 11 screens and servers delivering cocktails, meals, desserts and snacks throughout the movie, the company said in a news release issued Wednesday.

“The first half of 2016 has been strong for the expansion of the Movie Tavern brand, and adding our first location in New York is truly a highlight for us,” Danny DiGiacomo, VP of marketing, said in the release. “Syracuse and the surrounding communities have been exceptionally inquisitive about our concept from the moment we announced construction, so we are excited to open our doors to let them experience our cinema-eatery firsthand.”

Veronis Suhler Stevenson, a private-equity firm that owns Movie Tavern’s parent company, Louisiana–based Southern Theatres, LLC, financed the project, according to DiGiacomo, who spoke with BJNN last September.

Midlothian, Virginia–based EDC served as the project’s general contractor.

Patrons may purchase tickets and pick their seats online in advance, or do the same at the box office upon arrival at the theater.

Moviegoers age 16 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, age 21 or over.

For those only interested in seeing a movie, purchasing food or drink is not required.

Besides reserved seating, the Camillus location also features recliners with call-button service in every auditorium; a casual-dining menu with entrees, appetizers, and food options; and a bar with wine, beer and cocktail list.

Founded in 2001, Movie Tavern operates 24 theatres and 211 digital screens in nine states.
