People news: Lewis Custom Homes owner appointed to M&T Bank advisory council

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — M&T Bank has appointed Luke Lewis to its directors advisory council for the Central New York region.

Lewis is the owner of Lewis Custom Homes, Inc. a home builder based in New Hartford.

The 10-member council meets regularly throughout the year to provide M&T management with insight on a range of business, client, and community issues, according to an M&T news release.

“Luke has strong first-hand knowledge of one of the most important sectors of our local economy, the housing market. He knows the Central New York region well and his familiarity with our local communities, combined with his business knowledge, will serve M&T Bank well…,” Allen Naples, M&T Bank regional president for Central New York, said in the release.

Lewis Custom Homes has built more than 1,000 houses, townhomes, and condo units spanning from the Mohawk Valley to Western New York. Lewis is also president of the Mohawk Valley Home Builders and serves on a number of other boards across the region, including the SUNY Polytechnic Institute Foundation (formerly the SUNYIT Foundation).

In addition to Lewis, M&T Bank’s directors advisory council for the Central New York region includes Aminy I. Audi, Stickley-Audi, Inc.; James V. Breuer, Hueber-Breuer Construction; Carl Byrne, Byrne Dairy; Mara Charlamb, United Radio; Richard W. Cook, Hancock & Estabrook; Richard R. Griffith, Sturges Manufacturing; Robert H. Linn; James (Jim) Fox, O’Brien & Gere; and Richard J. Zick, Utica First Insurance, according to the release.

M&T Bank’s Central New York regional headquarters is located in Syracuse and is responsible for managing operations in 45 offices, with more than 500 employees across seven counties.
