The Syracuse region added 3,700 jobs, a 1.2 percent rise, and the Ithaca area picked up 1,600 jobs, an increase of 2.5 percent, between February 2016 and this past February. Other Central New York regions also generated job growth in the last year.
That’s according to the latest monthly employment report that the New York State Department of Labor issued on Thursday.
The Utica–Rome metro area added 900 jobs, a 0.7 percent gain, in the last 12 months.

New York state as a whole gained nearly 131,000 jobs, an increase of 1.4 percent, in that 12-month time period. The state economy added more than 12,000 jobs, or 0.1 percent, between January and February of this year, the labor department said.
