Willie’s Bagel Cafe formally opens in Utica

UTICA, N.Y. — Willie’s Bagel Cafe formally opened in Utica on Monday.

It held a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the grand opening of this family owned and operated bagel café located at 219 North Genesee St.

William (Willie) Rodriquez has years of experience and the support of his family in their newest cooperative adventure, the chamber said in a news release.

In 1989, Willie opened his first bakery in the Dominican Republic. Now, he’s brought his expertise to Utica where he makes his authentic New York City style bagels, pastries, salads, and cream-cheese spreads for the café. Willie’s wife, two daughters, and son all work with him in the business.

Willie’s Bagel Cafe is open for breakfast and lunch and provides catering services. It first opened to customers toward the end of last year.
