SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Seven home games, including a Friday night contest against the defending national champion Clemson Tigers, will highlight the 2017 Syracuse University football schedule, released Tuesday by the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
The Orange, coming off a 4-8 record in head coach Dino Babers’ first season at the helm, open the year with three straight non-conference home games. Syracuse begins Babers’ second campaign at the Carrier Dome Saturday, Sept. 2 against Central Connecticut State in a game that Syracuse University previously announced a month ago. Games versus Middle Tennessee State (Sept. 9) and Central Michigan (Sept. 16) follow before the Orange make their first trip to Death Valley for a Sept. 23 game against LSU at Tiger Stadium.
The highlights and biggest challenges of the ACC portion of the Syracuse slate include Clemson in a primetime game on Friday Oct. 13 and road games at Miami (Oct. 21), Florida State (Nov. 4), and Louisville (Nov. 18). The Orange finish the season at home against Boston College on Nov. 25, which is Thanksgiving weekend.

Syracuse’s 12 opponents combined for a 95-60 record (61 percent winning percentage) in 2016. All 11 of its FBS foes played in a bowl game last season. They combined for eight postseason victories, including both of Clemson’s college football playoff wins.
“Eleven bowl teams. The defending national champions (Clemson). There’s no doubt it’s a challenging schedule,” Babers said in a Syracuse Athletics news release. “But we’re going to embrace it. We don’t shy away from those things here. We have seven games in the Carrier Dome in front of our fans. That’s great for this community. That’s exciting. And I think it’s exciting for our players also.”
Game times will be announced at later dates, closer to when each game is played. The full schedule follows below:
