Del Lago Resort & Casino to host open houses for table games, poker dealers

TYRE, N.Y. — Del Lago Resort & Casino later this month is hosting two dealer-school information nights for those interested in learning more about table games and poker-dealer job opportunities.

The resort and casino will be looking for 480 trainees for the del Lago dealer school, the organization said in a news release issued Monday.

Job seekers “do not need” to have table-games experience to attend an information night, the resort said.

Del Lago, which means “of the lake,” is a $440 million 205-room hotel, spa and casino currently under construction in the town of Tyre in Seneca County.

The venue includes a banquet facility, several restaurants, lounges, 2,500-person entertainment center, and 2,000 slot machines, according to its release.

The sessions will give interested candidates an opportunity to meet del Lago Resort & Casino leadership, learn more about the job requirements, and have their questions answered to help determine if it’s a career path they’d like to pursue.

The first of two informational sessions is scheduled for Aug. 21 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Magee Firehouse at 1807 State Route 318 in Seneca Falls. The second one is set for Aug. 24, also between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Clyde Firehouse at 15 Ford St. in Clyde.

After the information sessions, interested candidates will be able to apply for admission into the dealer school.

Once selected and “successfully” completing the dealer-training school, the candidate will have the chance to apply and audition for a job as table games or poker dealer, the resort said.

Del Lago is “excited” that the first phase of hiring is now beginning, Jeff Babinski, executive VP and general manager at del Lago Resort & Casino, said in its news release.

“With our upcoming information sessions and dealer schools, we will begin the hiring process for several hundred dealers — the vast majority of whom we believe will come from Seneca County and the surrounding Finger Lakes region,” said Babinski. “Construction of del Lago is progressing according to schedule and we look forward to our February 2017 grand opening. This will mean good paying jobs, increased tourism and renewed economic activity for Tyre, Seneca County and the entire region.”

Del Lago will announce additional job opportunities in the coming months with the bulk of hires happening between November and January.

Once open, del Lago Resort & Casino will create 1,800 new permanent jobs.
