SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team has dropped several spots in the latest college basketball polls following its first loss of the season over the weekend.
The Orange, which lost 65-50 to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, fell to No. 24 in the new Coaches poll released Monday from last week’s No. 16 ranking.
In the AP poll, also issued Monday, Syracuse (4-1) dropped to No. 22 from No. 18 the week before.

South Carolina, which was unranked when playing the Orange, entered both new polls, ranking 23rd in the Coaches poll and 20th in AP.
The Syracuse Orange next take the court Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in Madison, Wisconsin when they face the Wisconsin Badgers (5-2), which are ranked No. 17 in both major polls. The game, which is part of the ACC/Big 10 Challenge, will be televised nationally on ESPN.
Syracuse and Wisconsin also faced off in last year’s ACC/Big 10 Challenge, with the Badgers winning 66-58 in overtime at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, before an announced crowd of 22,360.
