SALINA, N.Y. — The Onondaga County Medical Society (OCMS) has installed Dr. Mary Abdulky as its 189th president.
The installation was part of the Medical Society’s annual dinner meeting held Nov. 10 at the Holiday Inn Syracuse-Liverpool-Exit 37 at 441 Electronics Parkway in Salina.
Abdulky succeeds Dr. Richard Beers in that role, the organization said in a news release issued Tuesday.

The event also included the installation of other executive-council officers, including Dr. Dan Vick, president-elect; Dr. Michael Sheehan, VP; Dr. Sandra Sulik, treasurer; and Dr. Riya Chacko, secretary.
Awards
The Medical Society also presented several awards during its annual dinner.
The organization honored Dr. Robert Weisenthal with the Distinguished Service Award for his “significant achievements” in ophthalmological medicine and service to the Central New York community.
It also recognized Dr. Kevin Walsh with its Physician Service to the Medical Society honor for his “selfless service” as chairman of the workers’-compensation committee.
The organization presented Dr. Brian Johnson its Physician Service to the Community award for his service to the community in the field of addiction medicine and educational outreach on that topic.
The Medical Society also honored Louis Neuburger, Jr. with its Individual Service to Medical Care award for his “corporate career of long service to physicians” in medical-liability insurance for physicians and his emergency medical services voluntary service.
It presented Mary Beth Colbert with the Individual Service to Medical Care award for her volunteer efforts in rheumatology and Lupus organizations.
The organization also recognized ACR Health of Syracuse with its Community Organization Service to Medical Care award for public education and “hands-on” teaching of overdose identification and the correct administration of Narcan.
The Medical Society honored the Camillus Police Department with the Community Organization Service to Medical Care award for the department’s efforts in fighting the drug-addiction crisis in its community.
It also presented Dr. Patricia Randall with the Commendable Service by a Retired Physician award for her volunteer efforts in her community.
In addition, the organization gave Joan Cincotta the Alliance Service Award and Carolyn Fischi the Alliance Community Service Award.
The Medical Society also presented the Jerry Hoffman Advocacy Award to Dr. Dennis Nave for his pro-physician advocacy and his “crucial role in fostering collaboration” between the local labor movement and the physician community, per the release.
