Syracuse falls out of college basketball polls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team has dropped out of the latest top 25 college basketball polls following its road loss to Wisconsin last week.

The Orange, which lost 77-60 at the Badgers last Tuesday night and beat North Florida 77-71 at the Carrier Dome on Saturday, fell out of both the Coaches and AP polls after being ranked No. 24 and No. 22, respectively, in last week’s polls.

Syracuse (5-2) was the top vote getter among other teams receiving votes in both polls, which means the Orange are unofficially ranked No. 26 in the country.

Syracuse next takes the court tonight at 7 p.m. at Madison Square Garden in New York City when it faces the Connecticut Huskies (3-4), with the game televised nationally on ESPN2.

The two former Big East rivals, who have now been in separate conferences for three-plus seasons, played last year in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas, with Syracuse beating UConn 79-76.
