COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Bassett Healthcare Network announced it has appointed Dr. Brandon Greene as its new chief of pediatrics.
Greene joined Bassett in 2022 as its director of inpatient pediatrics and as a practicinginpatient pediatric hospitalist. He also served as pediatric clerkship director for the Columbia-Bassett Medical School Program, where he helped instruct medical students during their clinical rotations in Cooperstown.
“A rural health system that provides the level of care most often found in large urban settings is rare indeed, especially one with Bassett’s outstanding reputation,” Greene saidin a news release from the health system. “Bassett has a unique opportunity and responsibility to play a transformational role in rural pediatric healthcare.”

In his position as chief of pediatrics, Greene will oversee and guide more than 40 pediatric providers across Bassett’s eight-county service area, including its hospitals, outpatient clinics, and 22 school-based health centers.
“We in school-based health are thrilled to have Dr. Greene as the new chief of pediatrics,” Jane Hamilton, Bassett’s school-based health-practice manager, said. “His vision on how school-based health centers and Bassett’s other pediatric clinics will be able to intersect is exciting and will strengthen an already remarkable department.”
Bassett Healthcare Network’s school-based clinics serve students in 19 school districts across four counties with more than 7,000 students enrolled in the system. Services are available to all students enrolled in participating districts regardless of income.
Prior to joining Bassett, Greene practiced at Island Hospital in Anacortes, Washington. He is a 2012 graduate of the Weill Cornell Medical College and completed his residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center’s Corner Children’s Hospital.
Bassett Healthcare Network operates five corporately affiliated hospitals, more than two dozen community-based health centers, 22 school-based clinics, and two skilled-nursing facilities.
