LENOX, N.Y. — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division has arrested the owner of Back Roads Tavern in Lenox for tax fraud following a lengthy investigation.

Police on Tuesday charged tavern owner Douglas R. Case, 49, of Oneida, for failing to file or pay more than $68,000 in business sales tax from June 1, 2017 through Feb. 29, 2020 for the bar/restaurant, which is located at 4299 Canal Road in Lenox.

Case was charged with one count of second-degree grand larceny and eight counts of third-degree criminal tax fraud (all felonies). He was arraigned in the Town of Lenox Court and released on his own recognizance.
