Tompkins Chamber announces annual award winners

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce has announced this year’s winners of its annual awards, which recognize contributions by businesses, nonprofits, and community leaders who have made an impact in the county.

This year’s honorees are:

  • Entrepreneur of the Year — Kuukua Dzigbordi Yomekpe of Asempe Kitchen
  • Not-for-Profit of the Year — The Cherry Arts
  • Distinguished Business of the Year — Ecospect, Inc.
  • Howard Cogan Tourism Award — Greater Ithaca Activities Center’s Hospitality Employment Training Program
  • Noel Desch Key Person of the Year — Jennifer Tavares

“We are thrilled to honor these remarkable recipients who embody the values of the Tompkins Chamber and CVB [Convention and Visitors Bureau],” Chamber Board Chair Kelli Cartmill said in a release announcing the winners. “Their contributions have strengthened the chamber and the Tompkins County community, as well as set a standard of excellence reflected in the awards criteria for which they were nominated.”

The Tompkins Chamber and Convention and Visitors Bureau will celebrate the honorees during its annual meeting on Oct. 24 at the Ithaca Downtown Conference Center. The meeting, which is open to the community, provides an opportunity for chamber members and local leaders to gather.
