UTICA, N.Y. — Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) showed off its new Mako SmartRobotics for knee and hip replacement with a Meet the Mako event at Wynn Hospital.
During the event, participants were able to see the robotic arm in action and speak with Prashant Deshmane, an orthopedic surgeon with MVHS Orthopedic Group. Deshmane performed the first robotic total hip replacement with Mako SmartRobotics Total Hip on Sept. 20.
“The Mako SmartRobotics system allows us to perform less invasive surgeries with more accuracy as it creates a 3D CT scan that helps us create personalized surgical plans based on the patient’s unique anatomy,” Deshmane said in a news release. “Having this state-of-the-art technology benefits the patient in many ways including having less pain after surgery and quicker recovery times when compared to manual surgery.”
