SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Terakeet has eliminated 64 positions from its outreach team, the Syracuse–based search-engine technology company has confirmed to CNYBJ.
“Following a significant analysis and evaluation of our business strategy, Terakeet has made the decision to transform its approach to how we support enterprise brands in a digital environment. As a result, 64 employees were impacted, all from the outreach team,” Mark Kennedy, Terakeet’s president, said in a statement forwarded to CNYBJ.
Terakeet, an enterprise SEO firm, is headquartered inside the Washington Station building at 333 W. Washington St. in Syracuse.

Kennedy called it “a strategic business decision that we did not take lightly, and we are incredibly appreciative of the contributions made by this team over the last several years.”
The change to Terakeet’s outreach department was “driven by market intelligence,” the continual evolution of Google’s sophistication, and the advances in digital trends and technology which impact its customers’ business, per the statement.
“This is not a workforce reduction strategy,” Kennedy contended. He noted that Terakeet has created a new service offering that will launch next week. Its newly formed earned-media team will “leverage data and journalism to drive content creation and organic backlink generation for our enterprise customers.”
Terakeet now has more than 370 full-time employees across the country, Kennedy said. The company expects that count to increase as the firm continues “to invest in [its] service offerings to drive measurable outcomes and impacts for … customers across the globe.”
