Charlotte has hosted seven of the last eight ACC title games at its Bank of America Stadium. The city is also hosting the upcoming 2018, 2019, and 2020 ACC championship games.
The Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game has sold out at Bank of America Stadium four of the previous seven games, including last year’s contest in which 74,372 saw No. 1 Clemson defeat No. 7 Miami, 38-3, the ACC said.
The six other conference title games held in Charlotte, between 2010 and 2015, drew crowds ranging from 64,778 to 74,514. Attendance for the ACC championship game dipped to just 50,628 in 2016, when the game was held in Orlando, Florida.
Over the last eight years, the ACC ranks second among all conferences in attendance at its football championship games, the league said.
The Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Games in 2021-2030 will be held on the first Saturday in December.
The Syracuse Orange have yet to play in the ACC title game since joining the league in 2014.
