The event was held at Rome Free Academy and sponsored by Rome Memorial Hospital. The walk/run offered different walk courses to attract different types of walkers, the AHA noted.
A variety of businesses showed their wares at the event’s Expo. It also included interactive health education and provided participants a chance to pre-register for America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk, to be held March 1 at Utica College. The $20,000 figure includes pre-registrations for that race, according to the AHA Utica/Mohawk Valley affiliate.
America’s Greatest Heart Run & Walk 2014 is locally sponsored by signature sponsor, AmeriCU Credit Union along with local sponsors: Scalzo, Zogby and Wittig, Inc. Insurance; NYCM Insurance; MetLife & MetLife Foundation; and Carbone Auto Group. The event’s fundraising goal is $1,133,000. Donations so far total more than $105,000, according to the event website.
