CLAY, N.Y. — The Aldi grocery store at 7421 Oswego Road in Clay (near John Glenn Boulevard) plans to reopen on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. following renovation work.

The work started back in October, Aaron Sumida, Tully regional VP for Aldi, tells CNYBJ in an email. The renovation was part of an ongoing initiative to remodel and expand existing Aldi stores nationwide.

Citing Aldi’s status as a private company, Sumida declined to share details on the project cost or the contractor and architect involved in the project.

Upon reopening, the Clay location will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The updated store provides an “improved layout and ample refrigeration to accommodate an expanded fresh and convenient food selection,” per an Aldi news release.

It also has open ceilings and natural lighting and is built with environmentally friendly materials.

“We have invested in remodeling our stores to ensure the design and experience match the high quality of our products,” Sumida said in the release. “With the updated Liverpool store, shoppers will notice a new look with more fresh and convenient items at the reliably low prices ALDI fans rave about.”

Batavia, Illinois–based Aldi, which describes itself as “one of America’s fastest-growing retailers,” has more than 2,100 stores across 37 states, including locations in Central New York.
