DICKINSON, N.Y. — The Alliance for Manufacturing & Technology (AM&T), located near Binghamton, has named Carol Miller as its new executive director, effective this past Monday.

Miller, who has been working as a principal consultant at AM&T, succeeds the retiring Jim Cunningham, the organization said in a Wednesday email message. Cunningham had worked at AM&T for almost 20 years and held the executive-director position since 2016.

Established in 1988, the nonprofit AM&T describes itself as an organization of “experienced, skilled consultants and trainers dedicated” to helping manufacturers and high-tech startups in the Southern Tier “become more competitive and grow.” It serves Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Delaware, Steuben, Schuyler, Tioga, and Tompkins counties.

AM&T operates at 5 South College Drive in the town of Dickinson, north of Binghamton. It’s located in the same building as the Agency, an area economic-development organization.

As the executive director, Miller will lead AM&T’s efforts to serve the manufacturing community, working with AM&T’s clients, stakeholders, and partners.

Miller joined AM&T as a consultant in 2004. She has helped clients through the application of lean-thinking principles and “manufacturing-operations excellence.” AM&T said.

Miller is a member of the Rolling Meadows, Illinois–based Association for Manufacturing Excellence and holds various professional and industry certifications, AM&T said.
