DeWITT, N.Y. — Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced it has opened its delivery station at 6834 Kirkville Rd. in DeWitt.
The 112,000-square-foot delivery station will create more than 100 full- and part-time jobs, “all paying at least $15 per hour,” Amazon said in a Friday news release.
The company also says the new delivery station will create “hundreds” of driver opportunities for Amazon’s delivery-service partners and Amazon Flex drivers.

Amazon — the Seattle, Washington–based e-commerce giant — is also building a massive fulfillment center in the town of Clay.
“We are excited to continue to invest in the state of New York with new delivery stations that will provide efficient delivery for customers, and create thousands of job opportunities for the talented workforce,” Jenna Hilzenrath, Amazon spokesperson, said.
In addition to the station on Kirkville Road, Amazon also opened a similar facility in Carle Place in Nassau County on Long Island.
Along with opening the DeWitt delivery station, Amazon donated $1,500 to the Rotary Club of DeWitt. The funding supported the DeWitt Rotary Club spring basket fundraiser, which support locals families and youth programs in the DeWitt area.
Amazon has more than 250 delivery stations in the U.S., “offering entrepreneurs the chance to build their own business delivering Amazon packages, as well as independent contractors the flexibility to be their own boss and create their own schedule delivering for Amazon Flex.”
The company sees the delivery stations as part of the “last mile” of its order process, which help “speed up” deliveries for customers.
Packages are shipped to a delivery station from neighboring Amazon fulfillment and sortation centers, loaded into delivery vehicles, and delivered to customers, per the company release.
