American Airlines adds February flights between Syracuse and Miami

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) on Friday announced that American Airlines (NASDAQ: AAL) will launch limited seasonal, nonstop service from Syracuse to Miami International Airport (MIA) during the month of February.

To better align with winter break demand to South Florida, American Airlines announced one more outbound nonstop flight on Feb. 13 and a new return nonstop flight on Feb. 20.

“We are excited that our partners at American Airlines have decided to expand their presence at SYR with this seasonal offering to Miami,” Jason Terreri, executive director of Syracuse Hancock International Airport, said in a statement. “We fully expect this route to be hugely popular with winter break travelers seeking to quickly — and conveniently — leave the snow and cold behind for a bit.”

With this announcement, the list of nonstop destinations available from Hancock increases to 25, including nine to Florida.

“This February, our customers in Syracuse will have the ability to not only visit sunny Miami, but also enjoy one-stop access to more than 40 destinations in the Caribbean and Latin America that we serve from our Miami hub, from the warm waters and white sand beaches in Jamaica to the beautiful waterfalls and rainforests in Costa Rica,” Brian Znotins, American’s VP of network planning, said.

American Airlines is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas.
