American Airlines begins service from Syracuse airport to Dallas-Fort Worth

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — American Airlines on Wednesday started its service from Syracuse Hancock International Airport to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

Initial estimates place the economic impact of this new service to the Central New York region at $16 million per year, the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) said in a Wednesday news release.

Passengers and crew were treated to a party near gate 9 of the airport, including balloons, cupcakes, and giveaways. The departing flight left at 7:10 a.m. and was given a ceremonial water cannon salute by Hancock’s airport rescue and firefighting (ARFF) team.

“From business-centric destinations to leisure hot spots, Central New Yorkers will benefit greatly from this newly announced route to DFW,” Jason Terreri, executive director of SRAA, said. “We know this has been a huge priority for our business community members, and leisure-seekers will benefit from increased connectivity to some of the more popular destinations west of the Mississippi River.”

This route is served daily by an Embraer E175 aircraft that seats 76 passengers in a two-cabin configuration.

American Airlines also offers service from Syracuse to Boston, Chicago, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
