SYRACUSE, N.Y. — American Airlines will begin nonstop service from Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) beginning Aug. 17.

Tickets go on sale Saturday at aa.com.

Initial estimates place the economic impact of this new service to the Central New York region at $16 million per year, the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) said in a news release.

“We are obviously incredibly excited that American Airlines has chosen SYR for new nonstop service to DFW,” Jason Terreri, executive director of Syracuse Hancock International Airport, said. “This new route will not only benefit our business community members — who have repeatedly told us that this is a priority for them — but will also open up a tremendous amount of leisure destinations thanks to connections to locations not only across the U.S., but also around the world.”

With the addition of nonstop service to DFW, airlines operating at Hancock will now serve 25 nonstop destinations, SRAA said. Top business-travel markets west of the Mississippi River for Hancock passengers — such as the Los Angeles basin, the San Francisco Bay area, Houston and Austin in Texas — will have “substantially increased” connectivity because of this daily DFW-SYR service.

This newly announced route will be served daily by an Embraer E175 aircraft, accommodating 76 passengers in a two-cabin configuration.
