SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA) on Tuesday announced that American Airlines will resume seasonal, nonstop service from Syracuse to Miami International Airport (MIA) this fall.
The Saturday-only service will begin Nov. 6 and continue through April 2, 2022.
The announcement follows a successful test launch of limited Miami nonstop service earlier this year from Syracuse Hancock International Airport, the authority said.
The route will be serviced by an Embraer 175 aircraft in a two-cabin configuration, per SRAA.
“We are excited that our partners at American Airlines continue to see value in adding another nonstop destination to the Syracuse market,” Jason Terreri, executive director of Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR), said in a release. “Whether it’s travel for the holidays or looking ahead to spring break, Central New Yorkers will have a convenient way to trade the cold and snow for some South Florida sun and sand.”
With this announcement, the list of nonstop destinations available from the Syracuse airport grows to 27, including nine in Florida.
“We’re eager to connect Syracuse with Miami in response to customer demand, complementing existing service from SYR to six other cities,” Brian Znotins, American’s VP of network planning, said in the release.
