SYRACUSE — A thoracic surgeon with posts at Syracuse’s Upstate University Hospital and Crouse Hospital has been elected president of the New York chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. David Wormuth will serve as president for the New York chapter, which lobbies for surgeons’ interests at the state level. The chapter, based in Albany, also supports the American College of Surgeons’ federal lobbying efforts and acts as a resource on surgical issues in New York.
Wormuth, who lives in Jamesville, is chief of thoracic surgery at Upstate University Hospital. He is also medical director for American Reinvestment Recovery Act implementation at Crouse Hospital. That role has him helping to design and implement the hospital’s clinical information system, Crouse said in a news release.
