ONEONTA, N.Y. — American Medical Response, Inc. (AMR), a medical-transportation provider with operations in Syracuse, on Friday said it is acquiring certain assets from Cooperstown Medical Transport, Inc. (CMT).

The transaction will close at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday morning, AMR said in an email response to a BJNN inquiry.

At that time, AMR will start providing services in the areas formerly serviced by CMT, expanding its emergency and non-emergency medical transportation services in New York, the company said in a news release.

CMT will end ambulance-transportation services as a result of the transaction, AMR said in its email response. CMTs website says it’s located at 7352 State Hwy 23 in Oneonta.

Greenwood Village, Colorado–based AMR has Syracuse operations at 101 Richmond Ave., on Syracuse’s near westside.

AMR has hired about 80 employees and acquired “substantially all” of Cooperstown operating equipment and supplies as a result of the asset transaction including its fleet of ambulances, per its email response.

AMR and CMT worked “collaboratively to ensure a smooth transition” of employees and customers “effective day one,” AMR contended in its release.

“We are looking forward to expanding our coverage in the Central New York area,” Troy Hogue, regional director of AMR, said. “We will continue to provide these communities with the localized service they are accustomed to while leveraging the expertise and national resources of the AMR organization.”

CMT has provided emergency service to Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties for more than 30 years.

The New York State Department of Health and “applicable” regional emergency-medical services councils approved the expansion of AMR’s existing certificate of need, the company told BJNN.

American Medical Response, Inc., a provider of medical transportation, provides services in 40 states and the District of Columbia. The company, which includes more than 28,000 AMR paramedics, emergency medical technicians, registered nurses, transports more than 4.8 million patients nationwide each year in critical, emergency and non-emergency situations, per its news release.

AMR is a subsidiary of Global Medical Response, a medical-transportation company formed by bringing together AMR and Air Medical Group Holdings, per the Global Medical Response website.
