Arcadis to relocate local office, 250 employees to downtown Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Civil-engineering firm Arcadis plans to move its DeWitt office and 250 employees to One Lincoln Center at 110 W. Fayette St. in downtown Syracuse this fall.

Arcadis, which describes itself as a design and consultancy firm, signed a 10-year lease for 40,000 square feet of space on three floors, according to a news release issued on Tuesday.

The firm has operated in DeWitt for more than 30 years and is currently situated at 6723 Towpath Road in the town.

Arcadis’ local workforce represents about one-third of its more than 750 employees at eight sites across New York.

The firm is “excited” about its new home and office design, Lowell McBurney, Syracuse–based region director, said in the release.

“This move is a commitment to the Syracuse area that we take seriously. Relocating our staff and our business to downtown Syracuse is an opportunity for Arcadis to take a more active role in our resurgent and exciting city. We see downtown as a place where Arcadis can build on its success as we expand into new markets while growing our local roots. At the same time, we want to engage the community at large, contributing to the city’s economy, vitality and future,” said McBurney

As part of the move to downtown, Arcadis is designing the new offices as “spaces to work and collaborate.”

Arcadis is using the “activity-based workplace” design in offices in other regions to “facilitate collaboration and mobility while providing effective working environments for staff,” according to its news release.

Arcadis’ local office serves private and public entities, local companies and municipalities, while also supporting the firm’s clients elsewhere.

The company’s U.S. headquarters is located in Highlands Ranch, Colorado and its global HQ is in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Globally, Arcadis has 27,000 employees in more than 70 countries and generates more than $3.8 billion in annual revenue, according to its website.
