AT&T moving about 150 call-center jobs from downtown Syracuse to Florida

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Dallas, Texas–based AT&T (NYSE: T) is moving about 150 of its call-center jobs from downtown Syracuse to Orange Park, Florida.

The call center is located inside the office building at 250 S. Clinton St. in Syracuse.

“The lease is expiring on the location and we are consolidating the work into another company facility in Orange Park, Florida to increase efficiency and make the most effective use of our facilities. We’ll also be doing some hiring in Orange Park, in addition to those employees who elect to go there from Syracuse,” Jim Kimberly, AT&T spokesman, said in an email response to a BJNN inquiry.

Kimberly’s statement also addressed the possibilities for the affected employees.

“There’s a job offer for virtually every affected employee at another company facility, and a relocation allowance. The handful of employees who are not being offered jobs there have a job offer guarantee that ensures they’ll be offered another job with the company,” Kimberly added.
