AUBURN — The Auburn Doubledays, single-A, short-season affiliate of Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals, today announced the hiring of four summer employees in the team’s front office.

Derek Wohlfarth, a Houston native who is entering his senior year at Syracuse University, will serve as a finance associate, the Doubledays said in a news release.

Wohlfarth has worked as a client manager for YWH Management in Houston, the team said. He also spent the past three years as a facility and game-operations employee for the Syracuse University athletics department, the Doubledays added.

The baseball club has also hired Paul Mullin, a senior at John Carroll University near Cleveland, Ohio, as a sponsorship-activation associate.

Mullin, a Syracuse resident, has more than three years of marketing experience, including his work last season with the Syracuse Chiefs, the Nationals’ Triple-A affiliate.

Mullin is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications with integrated marketing next May, the team said.

Amy Thomas of Cato has joined the Doubledays as a marketing associate. Thomas has worked in graphic design, marketing, and promotions for the Syracuse Chiefs and in sports marketing for Madison Square Garden, the Doubledays said.

Thomas is majoring in communication management and design at Ithaca College, where she expects to graduate in 2015.

The team has also hired Nikki Treleaven as a group ticket-sales associate.

She spent the last two years working as a newspaper reporter in Connecticut following her 2011 graduation from Keuka College with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, the baseball club said.

The Doubledays, which play in the New York-Penn League, open the season against the Batavia Muckdogs at Leo A. Pinckney Field at Falcon Park on June 13.
