Baldwinsville manufacturer SSAC to close, 47 to lose jobs

LYSANDER, N.Y. — Solid State Advanced Controls (SSAC) has disclosed to state regulators that it will close its plant at 8242 Loop Road in the town of Lysander in Onondaga County.

The company’s 47 employees will lose their jobs starting Sept. 1.

SSAC, which designs and manufactures electronic controls for equipment manufacturers, attributes the closing to economic reasons, according to a notice posted on the state Department of Labor website in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. The WARN Act requires businesses of a certain size to give notice of layoffs and closings before they happen.

The company gave notice to the Department of Labor of the plant closing on June 1, according to the report, but it was not put on the department’s website until June 5.

SSAC was bought by South Dakota–based SymCom Inc., which was a competitor of SSAC, in May 2010. SSAC came under new ownership again last year when SymCom was purchased by Chicago–based Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ: LFUS), according to that firm’s website.
