UTICA, N.Y. — Barton & Loguidice, D.P.C. — a Salina–based engineering, planning, environmental, and landscape-architecture firm — has opened a new office at 70 Genesee St. in Utica.

The new location expands the firm in the Mohawk Valley region and becomes its 16th office overall.

Chad W. Hutton, Barton & Loguidice VP from Boonville, will manage the new 7,700-square-foot office, located in the newly renovated Utica Travelers Insurance building. The office will accommodate an initial staff of 12, with room to expand up to 30 employees across two floors.

Prompted by the need of the firm’s growing staff in the Mohawk Valley region, the new space provides offices and conference rooms for team collaboration and space to meet with area clients.

“This new office more effectively accommodates our employees who live in the region and were commuting to our other offices for work,” Barton & Loguidice (B&L) President and CEO John F. Brusa, Jr. said in a news release. “Now they can save time and costs on travel while reducing carbon emissions. At a time when companies are struggling with post-COVID work models, we heard from our staff that they wanted an office that would provide them with greater flexibility as well as a more convenient hybrid work model.”

“Aside from B&L staff who currently live in the area, many of our New York–based employees have significant ties to the Mohawk Valley,” Brusa added. “We are excited to be contributing to the revitalization of downtown Utica by making this long-term investment.

Lahinch Group along with Hueber-Breur Construction and Morrisroe Lynn Development, LLC, are completing the building renovations. First constructed in 1905, with an addition built in 1938, the building has been home to various insurance companies for more than 110 years.

The certified historic rehabilitation project will transform the building into a mixed-use property offering 10,000 square feet of commercial/retail space and 32 residential units. The Observer-Dispatch recently announced it would also be located in the building.

“B&L is proud to be the anchor tenant of this important and historic development,” Hutton said.

“We welcome Barton & Loguidice to Utica with open arms,” Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri said. “With the renovation of Commercial Travelers Building, we continue to see positive development in Bagg’s Square, and Barton & Loguidice will be a great asset to our community.”

Barton & Loguidice employs 350 people in offices in New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Main. The company provides technical solutions to public and private clients throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
